Al was born in San Diego and lived there most of the 44 years before he moved to Ouray County in 1990. He started a Skylight manufacturing company in 1973, and from 1973 to 1987 built custom and standard type skylights in San Diego county. Some of those same skylights can be seen at Home Depot in Montrose. Al sold his company in 1986. Al and a friend started the clothing side of Rusty's Surf Clothing and then ventured to Australia and New Zealand for 6 months establishing the line. In 1990, he moved to Ridgway, has been in real estate since 1991, is a Co-owner of RE/MAX Cimarron Realty, LLC., a Platinum club member and a member of the RE/MAX Hall of Fame. Al & his wife, Kathy, of 40 years have 2 girls and one boy, all married, and 9 grandchildren. Kathy enjoys teaching beginning piano to children. Kathy and Al love Ouray County and can't think of a better place to be (they do sneak off to Mexico during the winter for a few weeks).
